Assessment of workplace performance

Team: Dr Jacqui Raymond (Lead), The University of Sydney with A/Prof Rebecca Sealey, James Cook University; A/Prof Deborah Pascoe, Federation University; Professor Naumann, Queensland University of Technology and Prof Sue McAllister.

We are using a design-based methodology to identify key features and processes required to support valid judgement of workplace performance, using Kane’s argument based validity framework as a guide. The instance being investigated is assessment of exercise physiology students’ performance on placement across multiple universities and sites, with a view to developing a model that can usefully inform development of any assessment of workplace performance. Concepts such as the qualitative nature of assessment judgements, the role of assessment narratives and strengthening the role of assessment for learning are being explored.
