RESEARCH INTERESTs
Dr Stephen Clibborn is a research expert in employment relations, law and migration, particularly as it relates to the ‘real-world’ application of laws and policies. He is interested in how employment laws operate in practice and to what extent they achieve their goals, including examining the role of enforcement. He is particularly known for his research on employers’ unlawful underpayment of minimum legal wages. He researches this because gaps between the goals of employment law and their practical outcomes threaten the integrity of legal systems and the ability of businesses to operate efficiently, undermine policy and harm vulnerable workers.
