BIO

Associate Professor Simon Graham received his PhD in 2014 and a Master of Applied Epidemiology (MAE) in 2008. He has held externally funded fellowships since 2014.

 

In 2023, he became an associate editor at the Lowitja's First Nations Health and Wellbeing Journal and in 2025 has been a senior editor. 

 

In 2024, he received the Australasian Sexual Reproductive Health Award and in 2022, he received the NHMRC Sandra Eades Investigator Grant Award for the highest ranked applicant. 

 

In 2024, he was an invited speaker at the World Health Organization and International AIDS Society 'Mobilize for action on sexually transmitted infections' session at the International Union for Sexually Transmitted Infections Conference.

 

In 2024, Simon returned to Australia after 6 years overseas, including:

 

  1. A Fulbright postdoctoral fellow at the PRIDE Health Research Consortium in New York City;
  2. A NHMRC fellow at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine;
  3. An Endeavour fellow at the First Nations Health Authority in Vancouver;
  4. A Dyason fellow at the World Health Organization's Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence in Berlin;
  5. A NHMRC fellow at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) regional office for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok.

 

He led a four-year quality improvement trial with Aborginal Community Controlled Health Services in regional towns of NSW that successfully tripled sexually transmitted infection (STI) and blood borne viral testing and identified double the number of asymptomatic STI infections among young Aboriginal people.
