MBBS MMed (Clin Epi) FRACP PhD

 

Dr Shalini Subramaniam is a Medical Oncologist with clinical interests in genitourinary, thoracic, and breast cancers. She completed her MBBS at the University of New South Wales in 2011 and a Master of Medicine in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Sydney in 2021.

 

Shalini joined the NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre in 2019 as an Oncology Research Fellow where she continues to contribute to the conduct of academic and investigator-initiated clinical trials in genitourinary and thoracic cancers.

 

She was awarded a PhD by the University of Sydney in 2026, undertaken at the NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre. Her doctoral thesis, Explaining the Effects of Systemic Therapy on Survival in Advanced Cancer, examined how the effects of systemic therapy on survival are understood, quantified, and communicated in advanced cancer. This body of research aimed to improve understanding and communication of treatment benefit and prognosis in advanced cancer.
