BIO

Scott Davie is a solo pianist and chamber musician who has given concerts throughout Australia, Europe, across the Unites States of America, Mexico, and in China. His performances have been broadcast nationally on radio and television. He is known for various cross-disciplinary collaborations, such as with Graeme Murphy and the Sydney Dance Company in ‘Grand’, and in a later revival of the work with The Australian Ballet. His research focusses on the music of Sergei Rachmaninoff, the most prominent output being the online compilation of all known performances and recordings of the Russian concert pianist on the ‘Rachmaninoff Performance Diary’. In 2012 he gave the Australian premiere of the original version of the Rachmaninoff’s Fourth Piano Concerto, op. 40 (1926), with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra in the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House, under the baton of chief conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy. Numerous recordings have been released on the ABC Classic, Toccata and Melba labels, and he has given concerts in partnership with soprano Taryn Fiebig. In 2021, he led a project with Indigenous composers in which a series of works were written specifically for a 1770 Henrion square piano. Scott has been a longtime staff member of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and served as the Deputy Head of the ANU School of Music in Canberra between 2021 and December 2024.
