SERVICE & LEADERSHIP SUMMARy
As a unit coordinator and relieving Discipline Leader in Music Theatre at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Rob McDougall oversees the academic direction of the Music Theatre program. His work covers curriculum and unit development, coordinating teaching staff, and shaping the discipline’s productions and industry connections.
His leadership work spans the tertiary, school and community sectors, with a focus on regional NSW. He has been Musical Director and Featured Artist Coordinator for CAPERS (Creative Arts in Public Education Regional Spectacular) since 2008, and has worked as a vocal consultant to the NSW Department of Education in New England since 2007. He has led the New England Vocal Camp as lead conductor and conducted the West of the Divide choirs on international tours through Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Slovenia and Croatia. These programs give students from regional and rural communities access to high-level performance and touring.
He also has a long record of using performance for community benefit. In 2018 he produced and conducted Epiphanies, a pair of orchestral fundraising concerts for mental health in Tamworth and Sydney. He has performed at fundraising events for the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, the Steve Waugh Foundation, the Sony Foundation and the Cerebral Palsy Alliance.
