RESEARCH INTERESTs
Dr Laidsaar-Powell's research primarily focuses on improving the psychosocial outcomes of family carers of people with cancer. She has led development of online interventions for carers and health professionals to improve carer engagement and empowerment in the cancer context. Dr Laidsaar-Powell currently holds a Cancer Institute NSW Fellowship where she is developing a clinical pathway for recognising and managing psychological distress among family carers of people with cancer. She supervises and mentors colleagues who are developing interventions to improve carer support seeking and carer fear of cancer recurrence.
Rebekah has extensive methodological experience in conducting research in applied health psychology, including systematic reviews, qualitative studies among people living with chronic conditions, carers, and health professionals, cross-sectional and longitudinal quantitative surveys, intervention studies, and randomised controlled trials.
