Dr. Rashidul Alam (Rashed) Mahumud is a cancer economist and Senior Research Fellow (health economics) at the NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre (CTC), University of Sydney. With extensive expertise in health economics, clinical epidemiology, and public health research, Dr. Mahumud's work focuses on oncology and chronic disease management. His current role as a Research Fellow involves evaluating the clinical and economic value of cancer treatments to inform healthcare decision-making and improve patient outcomes.
Dr Mahumud completed his PhD in Health Economics (Cancer Economics), with research centred on the cancer burden in Australia. He also holds a Master of Cancer Sciences (Cancer Medicine), a Master of Public Health (Epidemiology), and an MSc in Biostatistics (Hons).
Prior to joining the CTC, Dr. Mahumud was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Western Sydney University and worked for five years as a health economist researcher at icddr,b. His research interests span clinical trials, economic evaluation, health outcome measures, and patient preferences using discrete choice experiments.
Dr. Mahumud's expertise is internationally recognised, and he serves as the Health Economics Editor for Annals of Epidemiology and PLoS ONE, expanding his collaboration with public health professionals and health economists globally.
