RESEARCH INTERESTs

Dr Landin-Romero’s research interests are dementia, neuroimaging, and cognitive neuroscience. Particularly in developing comprehensive and systematic knowledge of the different presentations of dementia. His program combines neuroimaging approaches with clinical, genetic, and post-mortem investigations to close the gap in understanding between clinical presentations and the biological underpinnings of dementia.

Goals addressed within the research program include:

  • Characterisation of multimodal imaging correlates of behavioural, emotional and language disturbances in dementia.
  • Identification of neural bases of metabolic disturbances, disease mechanisms and genetic mutations in dementia.
  • Development of neuroimaging approaches to map and monitor longitudinal brain changes in dementia in-vivo.
  • Utilising this mapping of disease trajectories to identify biological targets (i.e., imaging biomarkers) for early diagnosis, and monitoring of drug trials and interventions.
