BIO

Rachel was awarded her PhD from The Faculty of Medicine and Health, The University of Sydney in 2018 following the completion of a Bachelor of Medical Science (H1) in 2012. Her PhD research focused on understanding mammalian embryonic nervous system development using mouse embryonic stem cells.

She has since worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Western Sydney University, School of Medicine (2019–2020), where she used pluripotent stem cells to understand occular lens disease (cataracts), development and regeneration. She worked as a Medical Writer in the pharma and medical affairs industry where she helped publish journal articles and presentations in the field of rare blood cancers. In 2023, Rachel moved back the The University of Sydney to complete a post-doc in The Faculty of Science, investigating blood vessel regeneration using pluripotent stem cells. During her PhD and post-doc roles, Rachel taught across the School of Medical Sciences, and is now a Lecturer in Medical Sciences (Sydney Horizon Educator).
