LEARNING & TEACHING SUMMARy
Peter has taught across the Chemistry curriculum over more than 20 years in the School of Chemistry at Sydney, and before that in Dublin, Oxford, and Auckland. He has won three Vice-Chancellor's Awards for Outstanding Teaching and Support of the Student Experience and several national teaching awards.
Peter has taught first-year chemistry to the Fundamentals, Standard, Advanced, and Special Studies cohorts, a wide range of second-year organic and biological chemistry, and third-year courses on Retrosynthesis & Synthetic Design, Principles of Medicinal Chemistry, Structure Elucidation, Stereoelectronics & Reaction Mechanism, and Antibiotics Chemistry. He is also a committed and enthusiastic research supervisor and has supervised more than 20 PhD and Masters students and over 40 Honours students to date.
Peter's primary teaching contributions currently are to the third-year units CHEM3118 and CHEM3918 Synthetic Chemistry and in training the students and ECRs in his research group.
