Peter Radchenko is a Professor of Statistics at the University of Sydney Business School. Prior to joining the University of Sydney in 2017, he held academic positions at the University of Chicago and in the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California. He has a PhD in Statistics from Yale University, and an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from the Lomonosov Moscow State University.

Peter Radchenko's primary research focus is on developing new methodology for dealing with massive and complex modern data. He has done extensive work in the area of high-dimensional regression, where the number of predictors is large relative to the number of observations. He has also worked on the problems of large-scale cluster analysis, large-scale estimation and inference, correlation screening, forecast reconciliation, and functional data analysis. A more recent line of his research takes advantage of the modern optimization techniques to analyse key discrete problems arising in statistics.

Peter Radchenko's research papers have been published in the leading journals in the field, including the Annals of Statistics, the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, the Journal of the American Statistical Association, Operations Research, and Biometrika. He is an Elected Member of the International Statistical Institute (ISI). He serves as an Editor and member of the Editorial board for International Statistical Review - the flagship journal of the ISI.

The quality of Peter Radchenko's research has been acknowledged through grants from the U.S. National Science Foundation and the Australian Research Council, as well as a Research Excellence Award from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California. The impact of his recent work on the applications of mixed integer optimization in statistics has been recognized with an Honourable Mention for the 2023 INFORMS Computing Society Prize - a prestigious flagship award of the Society.
