BIO

Dr Patrick Filippi is a Senior Lecturer in Precision Crop Management in the School of Life and Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Science. He is a member of USyd’s Precision Agriculture Laboratory (https://precision-agriculture.sydney.edu.au/) and the Sydney Institute of Agriculture.

Patrick completed a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Hons I) at USyd in 2013, with a major in agronomy. He also completed a PhD in Agricultural Science from USyd in 2017. This was focussed on modelling and mapping spatio-temporal changes in agronomically-important soil properties across a semi-arid irrigated cotton-growing region of Australia. This research assessed the impact that both climatic fluctuations and land management practices have had on soil condition and suitability for crop production. From 2017 to 2021 Patrick was employed as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Precision Agriculture (PA) at USyd. Patrick was then a Research Fellow in PA in 2022 before he started as the Lecturer in Precision Crop Management in 2023.

Patrick is involved in both the national and international PA community. He is currently an associate editor for the journal Precision Agriculture, and is on the editorial sub-committee for the Society of Precision Agriculture Australia (SPAA).
