RESEARCH INTERESTs

Olga Kokshagina's research is driven by a passion for understanding and shaping innovation processes that address complex societal challenges. Her interests span across several interconnected domains:

  • Responsible Innovation, and Emerging Technologies: Olga's research examines how innovation can contribute to responsible futures and sustainability transitions. She is particularly interested in the role of AI, biotechnology, and quantum technologies in reshaping industries and societies. Her work emphasizes collaborations across academia, industry, and civil society, drawing on open science and citizen science approaches to democratize innovation. She integrates foresight and futures thinking to anticipate risks, identify opportunities, and guide transformative action.
  • Health Innovation and Digital Transformation:She explores how digital technologies reshape healthcare practices, professional identities, and organizational routines. A strong focus of her work lies in women's health innovation, where she examines how femtech, care pathways, and digital tools transform patient experiences and professional roles. She is also engaged in health policy and co-design initiatives at scale, including collaborations with the World Health Organization (WHO), to better understand how systems can adapt to digital transformation and support equitable models of care.
  • Innovation and strategy design: Olga investigates how organizations design strategies and innovation architectures to navigate uncertainty, with a particular focus on hybrid ecosystems, design-led approaches, and collaborative methods for tackling complex problems.

Through her research, Olga seeks to advance a deeper understanding of how innovation can be intentionally designed and governed to create impactful, future-oriented solutions to pressing global challenges.
