BIO
Niall lectures in audio production (radio and podcasting) in the discpline of Media & Communications (SACE, FASS).
He has extensive experience in radio broadcasting, in the community and public broadcasting sectors. He worked as a producer at ABC Radio National and is a longtime broadcaster, volunteer, staff member and board member with inner west community station Radio Skid Row, where he hosts and produces Local Flows and Goolay'yari Cooks River Radio. He has also worked as a researcher on ABC TV's Stuff The British Stole and a sound designer on projects like Behind the Wire’s Stories From Detention.
Niall completed a PhD at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in ethnomusicology, during which he learned and researched the sitting dances of Aceh in Indonesia. He taught for many years at the Conservatorium in courses on Australian music, popular music, music media, ethnomusicology and digital music techniques.
