BIO

Dr. Naisana Seyedasli is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Medical Sciences and the head of "Cell Plasticity and Drug Resistance" research group. She is as well affiliated with the Centre for Cancer Research at the Westmead Institute for Medical Research. With a strong background in stem cell and cancer biology, Dr Seyedasli is interested in the mechanisms of cell plasticity and resistance to treatment. Her research team use state-of-the-art technologies like single cell and spatial omics combined with 3D cancer models to address gaps in the current states of cancer treatment.

Dr Seyedasli was awarded a Max Planck research fellowship for her doctoral training leading to a PhD in Molecular Biology in 2008 from the International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS) in Goettingen, Germany. In 2009 and supported by the Australia and India Strategic Research Fund (AISRF), she moved to the adult cardiac stem cell group, Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute (VCCRI), Sydney for postdoctoral training.

Dr Seyedasli's research has been acknowledged by numerous awards and recognitions including the Dr Poyner award from the Australian Dental Research Foundation, and the award for research excellence from the Australian Society for Medical Research.
