Research projects & supervision summary

Morgan is the lead investigator on Interconnect Health, a new Medical Research Future Fund-funded project developing new models of care for people with innate variations of sex characteristics. The project has been funded through a grant of $4,991,065.94 over five years from 2024 to 2029. The project has three components:

- The development and evaluation of clinical and peer-led care models in Canberra Health Services' new hospital-based psychosocial support service and the national InterLink peer-led service.

- A mixed-methods national survey to better understand the health and well-being needs and circumstances of adults and adolescents with innate variations of sex characteristics.

- Development of new bioethical frameworks to support co-designed, ethically defensible models of care, attending to human rights norms and facilitating timely access to appropriate healthcare across the lifespan.

The University of Sydney is leading the project, with partners including InterAction for Health and Human Rights, Canberra Health Services, the University of Southern Queensland, QIMR Berghofer, Australian National University, UNSW, University of Technology Sydney, La Trobe University, the University of Western Australia, Telethon Kids Institute, the University of Canberra, and A Gender Agenda.
