Dr. Miloš Rančić in currently studying and developing novel solid-state materials that are doped with rare earth ions, which could one-day be used for quantum computation and metrology.

Dr. Rančić received his PhD in physics from the Australian National University in 2018 under the supervision of Associate Professor Matthew Sellars in the Solid State Spectroscopy Group. The focus of his thesis was to extend quantum spin-coherence in materials doped with the rare earth element erbium (Er). After completing his studies in Canberra, he was awarded a Marie Curie Fellowship in 2019 to continue his research into erbium doped materials with the Quantronics group at CEA in Paris, France. After spending  four and a half years undertaking research in France, Miloš returned to Australia and subsequently took up a Research Associate position in the Quantum Integration Laboratory at the beginning of 2025.
