Michael holds degrees from the University of Melbourne and the University of Oxford. He writes about law and economics, with a special focus on the law and economics of property rights. He is the author of An Expressive Theory of Possession, which uses concepts from game theory to explain why unilateral acts of possession create original rights in tangible things. Michael's work has appeared in leadings domestic and international journals, including the Melbourne University Law Review, the Cambridge Law Journal and the Oxford Journal of Legal Studies. He is also the Director of the Julius Stone Institute for Jurisprudence.
