Dr. Mehdi Sharifi Tabar
Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Centenary Institute, The University of Sydney
Dr. Sharifi Tabar is deeply interested in the epigenetic basis of gene regulation, with a particular focus on chromatin remodelers and their role in shaping the innate immune response. His research explores how dynamic changes in chromatin accessibility influence gene expression programs in contexts such as infection, inflammation, and cancer. With expertise spanning genetic engineering (CRISPR/Cas9), next-generation sequencing (RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, Cut&Run, ATAC-Seq), and single-cell analysis (scRNA-Seq), Dr. Tabar integrates multi-omics approaches to dissect gene regulatory networks. He also applies quantitative proteomics and interactomics (LC-MS/MS), structural biology (X-ray crystallography, cryo-EM), and small-molecule screening to target protein-protein interactions. His work is supported by in vivo models, including custom transgenic and knockout mouse lines, to validate molecular mechanisms in physiologically relevant systems.
Dr. Sharifi Tabar has authored more than30 peer-reviewed publications, including seven in high-impact journals such as Cell,Cell Reports, FEBS Journal, andProtein Science.
