LEARNING & TEACHING SUMMARy

Dr Verheyden delivers over 120–150 hours of teaching annually across undergraduate and postgraduate settings. He co-leads dermatology education within the Joint Medical Program (University of Newcastle/University of New England), where he has expanded teaching from limited exposure to a vertically integrated, multi-year curriculum.

 

Teaching modalities include:

Lectures and large-group teaching

Small-group workshops and flipped classroom sessions

Case-based learning and diagnostic reasoning tutorials

Bedside clinical teaching

Procedural skills training

 

He is actively involved in assessment design, including OSCEs and written examinations, ensuring alignment between curriculum objectives and clinical competency. He also contributes to international dermatology education initiatives.
