Project Opportunities

Title: Cardiac imaging in heart disease

Summary of opportunity:

We currently have a number of projects related to developing and using non-invasive cardiovascular diagnostic techniques in order to better diagnose and treat heart disease, as well as understand the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms.

Opportunity synopsis:

Our group seeks to improve diagnosis and develop new treatment options for patients with heart disease. In particular, the projects seek to better diagnose, treat, and understand heart disease using imaging and diagnostic techniques including cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging, echocardiography, x-ray computed tomography (CT), cardiovascular nuclear imaging, and electrocardiography (ECG).
Feel free to reach out to us for discussions about specific project options.

Our current research specifically focuses on the challenges related to:
1. Inefficient filling of the heart - diastolic dysfunction
2. Thick walls of the heart - left ventricular hypertrophy
3. A reduction in blood flow to the smallest vessels of the heart - coronary microvascular dysfunction
4. How these disease manifestations relate to both chest pain and heart failure, in particular heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF)
