Dr Mark Goodhew is a registered nurse with more than 35 years of clinical experience, primarily working with marginalised communities, including people who experience mental distress and/or use alcohol and other drugs.
He completed his PhD in 2019, and his thesis was awarded the UTS Faculty of Health Dean’s HDR List for Outstanding PhD Thesis. His doctoral research used a participatory action research approach to establish a Consumer Action Group at the Uniting Sydney Medically Supervised Injection Centre (MSIC), which continues to provide consumers with an ongoing voice in service delivery.
Mark’s research focuses on the co-design of health services and education, with the aim of supporting health professionals to work more collaboratively, compassionately, and humanistically with marginalised service users.
