BIO
Dr Mark Freeman is a Senior Lecturer (education-focused) in the discipline of Business Information Systems and the Dalyell Program Director at the University of Sydney Business School. Mark is acknowledged as an outstanding educational innovator who utilises creative pedagogical approaches and modern technologies to enhance students' learning experiences.
He holds a Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology, a Master of Education (Higher Education) and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Wollongong. His doctoral work examined the relationship between human-computer interaction and e-commerce systems. His current research interests include understanding the impacts of information systems (IS) on human behaviour across different subsections of the population, including children, medical patients, and volunteers, from various perspectives and their broader implications, including cybersecurity phenomena. He has published his work, discipline-focused research in journals, including Computers in Human Behavior, IEEE Transactions on Technology and Society, Journal of Medical Systems and Journal of Enterprise Information Management, and at several international conferences. His focus on IS education has also been widely published, presented and recognised, as evidenced by his latest work on storytelling and AI chatbots, which received the Best Paper Award at the AIS SIGED International Conference on Information Systems Education and Research in 2024.
