My teaching and higher degree research supervision focus on the following areas:

• conceptualisations of quality in early childhood education
• early childhood policy, including centre accreditation (NQF), teacher registration and the marketisation of early childhood services
• working with families experiencing adversity
• child care choice
• teacher professionalism and advocacy
• the leadership and management of early childhood services
• the development and sustainability of the early childhood education workforce
• child care in the media
• professional communication
