RESEARCH INTERESTs
My research interests include Modern Greek Studies, the history of science and medicine, literary and intellectual history, and the interaction between science, medicine, literature, religion, and public discourse. I am particularly interested in the reception and transformation of evolutionary and post-Darwinian ideas in Greek literary and intellectual culture, and in the ways medical and scientific debates are represented and contested in modern Greek cultural settings.
My current research examines Nikos Kazantzakis’ The Odyssey: A Modern Sequel as an evolutionary epic poem in the context of the scientific, philosophical, and literary currents of the early twentieth century.
