Lyndal is a General Practitioner, Specialist Consultant in Health and Professor Emerita at the University of Sydney. She commenced her academic career in 1999, after 13 years in clinical practice and has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers. In 2022 she was listed in the top 100,000 scientists worldwide and in the top 2% of researchers in her field.Her impact factor (H-index) is 46 with almost 9,000 citations since 2018. She has obtained more than $22 million AUD in research funding over the past 20 years. She has had broad and extensive experience in curriculum development and teaching and has practiced clinically in a range of primary care settings. She has held numerous leadership roles at the University of Sydney including Associate Dean (International) and Director of the Office for Global Health (2007-2012) and Head of the Discipline of General Practice (2015-2019). Since retiring from the University of Sydney in March 2021, she has been working as a Specialist Consultant in Health and was awarded a lifetime Emeritus Professorial appointment at the University of Sydney. She also provides pro bono general practice care to refugees at the Asylum Seeker’s Centre in Sydney.
