BIO
Lobna is committed to examining the intersection of racism with social policies, practises, and knowledges. First, Lobna interrogates the incarceration of children and young people, exploring how risk is racialised in practice and policy. Second, she explores how the use of risk assessment tools across multiple human services mute social factors that shape, and are shaped by, inequality. Third, she is interested in how white knowledges are embedded across social work curriculums, and anti-racist social work education.
Prior to her current appointment, Lobna worked for Youth justice NSW as a counsellor. She has also worked as a mental health practitioner, and a group work facilitator for high schools across South-Western Sydney.
