ProfessorLeslie Burnett

Professor Leslie Burnett is a consultant medical pathologist specialising in genetic pathology, bioinformatics, and clinical chemistry. He has led major changes in pathology practice in Australia, pioneering quality management, public pathology advocacy, whole genome sequencing, and genetic testing and screening at scale. Professor Burnett is Medical Laboratory Director of Virtus Genetics, part of Virtus Health, and an honorary Professor at the Universities of Sydney and UNSW Sydney, and is also a Visiting Scientist at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research. In 2022, he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for “significant service to pathology, to medical research, and to professional societies”.
