LEARNING & TEACHING SUMMARy

Over the course of my career, I have designed and coordinated courses, lectured on a host of subjects, and supervised PhD and senior theses. I have also shown a commitment to pedagogy research. In 2024, as part of my research on disability pedagogy, I published "Education as Spectacle: Helen Keller and the Impossible Performance of Blindness at the Perkins Institution," in Paedagogica Historica: International Journal of the History of Education. This article historicized blind education in the United States of America at the turn of the twentieth century, cognizant of what it reveals about how blind students have signified and continue to signify in the popular imaginary. My research in disability studies has also deeply influenced my pedagogy, in particular my commitment to universal design. At the core of my teaching is an ongoing meditation on what inclusivity means in the classroom, particularly regarding identity, learning styles, and neurodiversity.
