BIO
Dr Kerrie Sandgren, BSc Hons Adv Sci/Life Sci, PhD Immunol, is a Moderna Global Research Fellow and Senior Research Scientist at the University of Sydney and Westmead Institute. She co-leads the Vaccines and Adjuvants group in the Centre for Virus Research, focusing on the innate immune response to vaccine components in human lymph nodes.
She is an experienced immunologist who spent 4 years at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden and at the Vaccine Research Center, National Institutes of Health in the USA studying what dendritic cells do when they encounter viral and vaccine components. She now continues her work at the Centre for Virus Research at the Westmead Institute co-leading the Vaccines and Adjuvants group, focusing on the innate immune response to vaccine components in human lymph nodes.
PhD - University of New South Wales/Westmead Institute for Medical Research on Poxvirus Interactions with Dendritic Cells.
BSc. (Hons 1st class) in Medical Microbiology and Immunology, University of New South Wales.
Kerrie is a member of Sydney Infectious Diseases Institute (Sydney ID) where she holds a leadership position in the 'Vaccines and Immunisation' Theme.
