Katherin Cartwright is a passionate mathematics educator and is currently Senior Lecturer Primary Education (Numeracy) at the University of Sydney teaching pre-service teachers. Katherin’s PhD research was on teachers' understanding of mathematical fluency and the characteristics of fluency students display. Her current research involves exploring young children's ways of using embodied modes as thinking and communicating tools to represent mathematics. Katherin is the Vice President Development and an active member of the Mathematics Research Group of Australasia (MERGA). Katherin is also a president of MANSW (NSW’s mathematical association). Katherin’s teaching background is with primary-aged students. She has a particular interest in researching mathematics approaches for primary teachers that will have a future impact on classroom practice.
