Title: Media in Chinese societies
Summary of opportunity:
Joyce is an Associate Professor in Chinese Media Studies at the University of Sydney. She recently completed a Chiang Ching-Kuo Foundation–supported project on China’s external communication towards Hong Kong and Taiwan and is currently researching public communication in post-NSL Hong Kong.
Her work draws on her experience in journalism practice and education, bringing interdisciplinary perspectives to her teaching and research methods. She was a Visiting Associate Professor at the University of Hong Kong (2013–14), where she conducted collaborative research on public opinion on China’s Weibo, and a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the University of Maryland, College Park (2004–05), researching developments in public journalism.
