SERVICE & LEADERSHIP SUMMARy

José-Miguel is passionate about research translation, especially in the public sector context. He has appeared in front of Parliamentary Committees at State and Federal level, advised or completed commissioned work in Australia for the Department of Education, the Attorney-General Department, the NSW Ombusdman, the NSW Department of Customer Services, the NSW Department of Education and has an ongoing multiyear project with the NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption. Internationally he has engaged in different capacities as an academic with agencies in several jurisdictions such as the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the European Centre for Algorithmic Transparency; together with international organisations such as the Council of Europe and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

 

He has reviewed proposal for funding for the US National Science Foundation and is currently a registered assessor for the Australian Research Council, the Research Executive Agency of the European Commission and the Slovak Research and Development Agency (SRDA).

 

He will not accept commissioned work or funding from private companies while in academic service at Sydney, but would consider support from fundations and other non-for-profit for research purposes.
