RESEARCH INTERESTs

His cancer research interests include paediatric solid tumours with particular reference to liquid biopsies for the detection of minimal residual disease in paediatric solid tumours , monitoring genetic and disease progression and surgical reconstruction and imaging of tumours to assist in cancer surgery.

 

His thoracic surgical research focuses on chest wall reconstruction and long term follow up of oesophageal atresia and diaphragmatic hernias.

A/Prof Karpelowsky is also the Principal investigator on a number of clinical trials focusing on common paediatric surgical conditions including central venous access, biliary atresia, appendicitis and pyloric stenosis.
