LEARNING & TEACHING SUMMARy

Errington is interested in communicating the exceptional benefits of studying tractable model biological systems as a training ground for the principles of the scientific method. Bacterial cells are relatively simple compared with higher (or lower) eukaryotes but still pose interesting and important questions of general biological relevance.

He is passionate about recruiting, training and mentoring young scientists in the general areas of infectious diseases, antibiotic resistance and antibiotic discovery, as well as other more fundamental areas.

About 25 previous lab members (of about 65) have gone on to establish careers as independent research group leaders.
