Jay is a nurse academic and researcher within the Susan Wakil School of Nursing and Midwifery, with extensive teaching and clinical experience across medical and surgical nursing and palliative care. He currently teaches and coordinates acute care nursing practice and palliative care units of study across pre-registration and post-registration nursing programs, in both Australian and Singapore-based programs.

His doctoral research examined how nurses reconcile cultural values and care approaches in end-of-life care. This body of work, supported by the inaugural Daffodil Centre Postgraduate Research Scholarship, was a multi-study, cross-country investigation conducted in Australia and Malaysia, generating evidence on the tensions nurses experience delivering end-of-life care within culturally situated contexts. Findings were presented at several national and international conferences. Building on this work, Jay's research program aims to generate evidence to strengthen workforce inclusion and belonging, and culturally responsive healthcare practice.
