Dr Hayley Smithers-Sheedy works on Cammeraygal country and is passionate about growing and strengthening capacity in cerebral palsy and neurodevelopmental disability research. Hayley is a non-Indigenous researcher committed to supporting Indigenous-led projects and partnering with people with lived experience.

 

She has expertise in epidemiology, congenital infection, neurodevelopmental disability and consumer involvement in research with >60 publications and >$6M in funding. She plays a key role in her work with both the Australian Cerebral Palsy Register, the Australasian congenital Cytomegalovirus Register and is a member of the International Cerebral Palsy Genomics Consortium.

 

Dr Smithers-Sheedy welcomes enquiries from prospective research students and encourages applications from Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students and those with lived experience of disability.
