Research projects & supervision summary

I am leading research with strong human-centric impact of interdisciplinary engineering design (triple bottom line of social, economic, environmental benefits) while concurrently working collaboratively with colleagues by harnessing machine learning for improved prediction modelling and optimisation of various chemical, biological, and environmental processes.

Here is a list of select ongoing projects (full list available here):

  • Data- and physics-informed PFAS Degradation Modelling.
  • Developing AI for CBE Design: exploring impact of ethics, philosophy, and/or history on design outcomes.
  • Machine learning applications: carbon capture via ionic liquids, micropoillutant degradatiaon, metal leaching from tailings,high-throughput computational modelling of electrocatalysis and microkinetics.
  • Training Cogniti AI Study Agents/Bots for Undergraduate & Postgraduate Coursework Units of Study.
  • Drug Discovery Review: Dalyell Scholar Mentoring.
  • High-Value Industry-Grade Software Licensing Initiative for Academic Innovation in Research, Teaching and Learning.
  • From Labs to Journal Paper: Embedding Research in 1st- through 4th-Year Undergraduate and Postgraduate Coursework inEngineering.
  • Augmented/Virtual Reality (AR/VR) Experiences for Teaching & Learning.
  • Creation of Brand New Engineering Student Research Journal at The University of Sydney Library's 'Sydney Open Journals'.
  • Assessing energetic/munition-based circular economy applications for explosive ordnances.
  • Assessment of Critical Minerals Impact in National Power Grids via ESG and UN SDGs.
  • Creation of DEEPSyM-GriD Tool for Energy Demand, Supply & Emissions Modelling including Western Sydney Aerotropolis in New South Wales, Australia (international interdisciplinary collaboration with Mitubishi Heavy Industries, Japan).
