Georgie is Associate Professor of Rural Health at the School of Rural Health. She has been an active researcher in this rural clinical school setting for the last decade and has formed strong collaborations with rural health service organisations and digital industry partners.

Georgie's research focuses on rural health service access and workforce, and digital health. Her research on virtual care models seeks to improve health service access equity in rural and aged care settings.

In the last 5 years, she has received category 1 grant support of over $7M, largely to develop a digital solution for residential aged care. Additional recent funding includes NSW Ministry of Health Translational Research Grant Schemes and an OHMR Covid-19 grant. Several funded projects investigate virtual healthcare in collaboration with the rural Western NSW Local Health District, to translate evidence and knowledge in rural service access.
