BIO

I am a medical anthropologist and field epidemiologist who uses ethnographic methods to create detailed accounts of how outbreak surveillance and reponse systems actually work and what we can do to make them work better (in the broadest possible sense). In addition to my research work, I also do intermittent applied and policy work for the World Health Organization and Medesins Sans Fronitiers, and some other governmental and non-governmental organizations, assisting with outbreak responses and the development of tools and guidance documents.
