BIO

Francesca Ferrer-Best is an Interdisciplinary Lecturer at the University of Sydney. Her work sits at the intersection of cultural studies, feminist theory, and science and technology studies. Francesca’s particular interest is in how the gendered body is produced in, and through, different material entanglements. Her research has focused on topics replete with untested assumptions about women’s bodies and agency, including women drinking in public space and professional ballet dancers’ embodied experiences. She is currently developing a project on digital sexism, social media, and mediated embodiment.

Francesca has a Bachelor's in Politics and Modern History, University of Manchester, and a Master's and PhD in Gender and Cultrual Studies, Univeristy of Sydney.
