Senior Lecturer in Neuroscience and Rare Diseases

RESEARCH INTERESTs

Dr Evesson is a cell and molecular biologist by training with a passion for understanding the causes and consequences of devastating genetic neuromuscular and neurological disorders.
In the lab her team uses cell and animal models to study the function of proteins that have specialised roles in skeletal muscle in order to understand the basis of disease when these proteins don't work properly.
Leveraging this mechanistic information, Dr Evesson is performing pre-clincial studies to develop targetted therapies for rare neuromuscular disorders which currently have no treatments or cures. She is also establishing a pipeline for the pre-clinical development of genetic therapies for neuromuscular and neurological disorders capitalising on advances in genetic correction technologies.
