BIO

Associate Professor Floris van Ogtrop is a hydrologist in the School of Life & Environmental Sciences at the University of Sydney whose work spans drought risk, natural hazards, and water quality in agro-ecosystems. He integrates field monitoring, modelling, and remote sensing to understand how climate variability and land management shape water security from catchment to farm scale. Floris also leads and collaborates on urban agriculture and circular economy initiatives, exploring how reclaimed water, organic waste streams, and data-driven management can support productive, resource-efficient food production in cities. He works across disciplines and stakeholder groups - from farmers to councils - to translate research into resilient water and food systems.
