Research projects & supervision summary

  • Beyond Calm — a monograph reframing meditation as a cultural technology for confronting crisis, against the contemporary reduction of contemplative practice to relaxation and stress management.
  • Pre-Buddhist substrata of Dzogchen — continuing work on the indigenous Tibetan and wider Inner Asian religious complexes (sky worship, hunting cults, vitality) that shaped the early Great Perfection before its buddhicisation.
  • Meditation, trauma, and dissociation — ongoing research on the psychological and cognitive dimensions of Dzogchen's formative myths and practices.
  • Ernesto de Martino and twentieth-century continental philosophy of religion — further studies on de Martino's dialogue with phenomenology, hermeneutics, and the parapsychological fringe of Weimar science.
