BIO

Fiona Robinson is an Associate Professor and Head of the Specialty of General Practice within the Sydney Medical School. She is the Head of the General Practice Clinical School and the education lead for the GP curriculum in the MD program. Fiona is responsible for its development and delivery across urban and rural sites throughout NSW.

She is head of the Department of General Practice at RNSH and has worked in clinical practice for more than 30 years, with special interests in medication safety, patient education, chronic disease prevention and management, as well as end-of-life care. She is involved in the implementation and delivery of the statewide Voluntary Assisted Dying service and travels throughout NSW fulfilling this role.

Fiona's research interests are in the fields of medication safety and deprescribing, especially in the transition from hospital care back into the community. She is also involved in research examining the benefits and challenges of virtual/digital/teleheath care in general practice, residential aged care and hospital settings.

She was previously the director of the Virtual Care Service in NSLHD, a director on the board of the NSW GP training program and has been involved in medical education across many domains, medical students, GP registrars, junior doctors, as well as primary health networks and international programs.
