Farhad Masoomi-Aladizgeh is a Plant Biologist investigating the impacts of environmental stresses on crops. Farhad is particularly interested in male reproductive performance in plants and how these susceptible tissues respond to changing environments. He aims to identify the precise molecular events that underlie the susceptibility of germ cells to heat and drought stresses, to develop climate-resilient crops.
Farhad completed his BSc in Agronomy and Plant Breeding (2011) and MSc in Agricultural Biotechnology (2013) in Iran, before conducting a PhD in Plant Biology at Macquarie University in Australia, awarded in 2022. Before starting his PhD, Farhad worked in industry for four years to gain hands-on experience in a real-world business, including crop genetics and sequencing technologies. He has also gained invaluable experience convening Plant Biology courses and lecturing on plant biology and biotechnology to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
