BIO

Dr. Erin Macartney's research focuses on understanding the factors that shape traits important for individual health and fitness. In particular, her research primarily focuses on the effects of diet on reproduction and offspring health. However, the scope of her research spans a wide range of environmental, genetic, and epigenetic factors influencing behavioral, phenotypic, and metabolic traits.

By combining experimental work with insects and mice with quantitative syntheses such as meta-analyses, Dr. Macartney addresses questions at both the primary and secondary levels, enabling a comprehensive understanding of how various genetic and non-genetic factors influence life-history strategies. Her integrative approach allows for a deeper exploration of the factors underlying trait expression, providing insights that are not only crucial for evolutionary biology but also have implications for health and disease prevention.
