BIO

Emma van der Schyff is a postdoctoral research fellow and early career researcher at The University of Sydney, with a background in psychology and health sciences. Her research focuses on digital platforms, cyberpsychology, and social connectedness, exploring how technologies such as videogames, virtual reality, and AI influence wellbeing. She completed her PhD within the Cyberpsychology Research Group, focusing on how videogaming supports social capital and mental health in online communities. Emma uses mixed methods approaches to investigate the role of online environments in shaping social capital, identity, and mental health help-seeking behaviour. She has also worked closely with industry partners to evaluate emerging digital health technologies. Emma is committed to interdisciplinary collaboration and to advancing digital health research that is both ethically grounded and socially impactful.
