BIO
Ellen is a PhD Candidate and Research Associate based at the Leeder Centre for Health Policy, Economics, and Data, The University of Sydney. Her core area of research is food systems policy, human rights, and the right to adequate food – with a focus on land, agriculture, trade, and nutrition sectors. She has particular expertise in qualitative policy analysis, using theories relevant to policy processes and human rights. Ellen has worked on projects with collaborators in Fiji, Samoa, Indonesia, Kiribati, and Timor-Leste. Her research is underpinned by a decolonial approach, drawing on principles of justice, equity, and inclusion. She tutors in global health policy and health economics across various Masters programs at the University. Ellen originally trained as a nutritionist, and has postgraduate degrees in global health and social justice.
